2010 will be the Year of Girl Guides, celebrating the start of our 3 years of Centenary of Girl Guides around the world events.
As part of the Centenary celebrations there will be many events at Unit, District, Division, Region and State levels all of which can be attended by Guides from Blacktown South District.
Some dates have already been allocated and some will be announced once the committees are formed and locations booked.
Be Prepared for a monster year of fun
Events to think about are:
WORLD THINKING DAY - This will be a Region event with the theme "Together we can end extreme poverty and hunger" This event will be held in February 2010
WAGGGS CELEBRATION DAYS - 100 days into the year is party time and Guides all around the world will be celebrating. The party will be held on April 10th 2010, 2011, 2012
CHAIN OF CAMPFIRES - There will be camp fires lit across Australia; all Guides singing the same songs.The fires will start at 5.30pm and continue to be lit at timed intervals so the fires start to burn as the sun goes down and the spirit of Guiding is spread across the country. This event will be held on June 19th, 2010 and will be held at Blacktown Showground. There will be a BBQ available prior to the campfire starting and we are sure that this will be a great night
NATIONAL TREE DAY - This will be a Unit, District or Division event depending on what each group want s to do. This event will be held in August 2010
FLYING THE FLAG - Every Guide member acrosss Australia will be renewing their Promise on this day. This will be a Region event and will be based on a Promise and Law Fair. The date for this event will be 10th October with the Promise ceremony being held at 10am.
